Slack 10.2 Keyboard not detected
Hi,
I have just installed Slackware 10.2. I have a Microsoft Wireless Desktop Keyboard and Mouse, however the keyboard is not detected, so I can't log in.
I have tried using a standard PS/2 keyboard, however the problem is the same.
Perhaps it has something to do with rc.hotplug taking a long time to start at boot time? Sorry I can't get any logs or outputs of dmesg, etc, because I can't even log in to get them
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

This is the really odd thing about it - I used to MS keyboard to install, with no problems. When LILO comes up, I can type kernel options, etc. Its just that when I get the Slackware login prompt, the keyboard is not detected.
I know the keyboard works, because I have other distros installed on the same machine, and everything works with no problems. I will post the logs here shortly, when I get a chance.
Thanks

Thanks Alien_Hominid, I am going to install using the 2.6 kernel, and see if that helps.
Coincidentally, I am also using the sata.i kernel (as was the OP in the thread you linked to). Perhaps it is a bug in that kernel...

Sata also should work with default Slackware kernel.

This is really strange. I installed again, using the 2.6 kernel on the Slackware CDs. The keyboard now works fine.
However, now the mouse wont work. In the setup program, I selected IMPS/2 (since this is what the other distros on the same machine use, and it works correctly). However, on slackware the Mouse is frozen in the center of the screen. I ran xorgconfig, and used all the correct settings. I also copyed the xorg.conf file from Kubuntu on the same machine, and still it does not work. I tryed running "mouseconfig" and selecting different protocols, such as PS/2 and USB, however there is still no change.
This is really annoying me - I think I must have missed something that is bleeding obvious.
Any help would be great
Thanks in Advance

Try "auto" protocol. What does mouse-test give?
