Slack; Where are the runlevel scripts?
I'm an Old (Red)Hat with Linux, but not willing to wear any old Fedora. So I decided (after hearing lots of good stuff around the 'net), to become a newbie in Slackware instead.
I'm SURE this has been answered before, and I did search (perhaps with the wrong terms though)... Having used many flavors of *NIX since 1993 (HP/UX 10.20, Solaris 2.5.1-8, RedHat 5.1-9, Mandrake 8, [shamed to say SCO OpenServer 5])... I'm confused as to why I can't seem to be able to find the startup scripts that I'm used to: / [etc|sbin] (/rc.d)? /rc [0..6] .d / [K|S][0-9][0-9]... which would typically link to actual scripts in: / [etc|sbin] (/rc.d)? /init.d/... The scripts I can find in /etc/rc.d seem random. If this is the right location, how is it controlled as to what items start and stop and when? Thank you, Gary Allen |
/etc/rc.d its bsd style init scripts

OK - I've never run a BSD Unix ... any good place to search? Where's a decent manual?

Ah, O.K. - I found this (that BSD keyword really helped me on the Google side)...
