I am still running Zerouno's static build of Skype. http://files.z01.eu/skype/
As I also install the multilib version of glibc-solibs from Alien Bob to provide support for the 32bit printer driver I use, I need to change the /lib/ld-linux.so.2 symlink to point to /usr/share/skype/lib32/ld-2.17.so before starting Skype, and then change it back when Skype has finished. I have a script and an appropriate sudoers setup to support this.
This all plays very well with pulseaudio in -current.
(On a side note, I spent half a day getting my little netbook to work with Skype using apulse, then the very next day pulseaudio appeared in -current, which ends up being an easier and better solution.)
