hm some slack 12 pkgs


if i do

ln -s /usr/local/lib/libdbus-1.so.1.0.2 /usr/lib/libdbus-1.so.1.0.2

skype said the same thing:

bash-3.1$ cd Desktop/skype-1.4.0.118
bash-3.1$ skype 
skype: error while loading shared libraries: libQtDBus.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

The error you are getting is for libQtDBus not libdbus. Can you install one of the skype packages from here and see if it helps:

You can try this skype package: http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slackbuilds/skype/pkg/

It is a statically linked version with Qt4 libraries already included.
It should work out of the box on Slackware 12.0 (which is where I use it).

I recently installed Alien Bob's package and it worked flawlessly right out of the box:

Any location for an "older" versions of Skype? I'm running Vector 5.8 (I think it's an equivalent of Slack 11.0). I'd like to get source tarball and compile it myself.

Skype does not come in source form. It is a free but non-open application. You can only download binaries.
