Be sure you selected the right mic and speakers in skype too. It may be different settings for you and pavucontrol needs to match up. See attached.

Hi. Please see attachment. Clicking 'Test audio' I hear sounds. So the speakers are working. Now I click 'Make a free test call'. The voice of a woman can be heard telling me
Quote:
Hello, after the beep please record a message
I say 'Hello, hello, hello' and stop speaking. After that I don't hear anything. The microphone works, as pavucontrol shows. But how does Skype know when my message ends, to begin echoing it?

The call usually just ends once something is recorded and you stop talking.

In Settings>Audio and video one thing I did was to replace 'Default device' by 'Built-in audio analog stereo' (in the mic section) but with no luck.

I have "Unmute for incoming call" the other side of your snapshot.

The rest seems to be the same as for me which is working.

stf92, I would go back and look at your pavucontrol settings again. Confirm on the "input devices" tab that "Built in Analog Stereo" is pointing to the correct device and there is activity on the volume slider below it. You should have a bouncing blur line if your mic is active. Confirm your mic is not muted there. You could have multiple selection options under the "Port:" drop down menu. Does your mic work in other applications? Have you used it before in other applications?
