Here is SlackBuild script for Skype: https://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.2/network/skype/
Slackware 14.2 already has all dependencies, so you don't need any extra packages.

EDIT:
Skype is 32bit, so you need to set up multilib first.

Here is the one I use.
http://repository.slacky.eu/slackwar...network/skype/

Read about it here
https://slackalaxy.wordpress.com/201...e-slackware64/

Works for me

I find a multilib setup (and maintaining it) to be overkill just to occasionally run one 32bit application. Instead, I keep a normal 64bit system and setup skype inside a 32bit qemu virtual machine. I then create (on the host) a /usr/bin/skype which is just a script that starts the VM (which has autologin and immediate execution of the actual 32bit skype).

hi,

I hope that zerouno will soon create a Skype package for Slackware 14.2 x86_64, like he did for 14.1 -- that installs a 32bit compatibility layer in a custom location, just for it.

shoshia 07-08-2016 05:33 AM

I take zoruino's slackbuild. Changed speex version to 1.1.6 and slackversion 14.2.
and i got this error

nstall library libasound.so.2 from a/aaa_elflibs
Install library libattr.so.1 from a/aaa_elflibs
Install library libbz2.so.1 from a/aaa_elflibs
Install library libexpat.so.1 from a/aaa_elflibs
Install library libfreetype.so.6 from a/aaa_elflibs
ABORT! Library usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6 not found in ./a/aaa_elflibs-14.2-i586-23.txz

freetype is gone from aaa_elflibs-14.2-i586-23.txz. How can i fix this?

I fixed freetype error. Just chnage appropriate line in filelist file to point proper freetype
package.

Now cxxlibs are missing it seems this library is removed in 14.2

-----------------
I found that zerouno's package for 14.1 64 bit works out of box for `14.2 ..Nice..thanks to all.
for 14.2 you need updated filelist for dependencies. So till that i'll use 14.1 package..Too lazy to check
all the things :)

For the ones struggling to get Skype on Slackware 14.2, I suggest a solution (maybe temporary): use "SkypeWeb".
Just type "skypeweb" on Google and get it, login with your data (Microsoft or Skype account) and enjoy :)
After login you will get Skype into your Outlook Mail page too.

Skype all-in-one for slackware 14.2 is ready

I'm uploading in http://slakfinder.org/skype/skype_static-14.2/
if it works I will upload it on slacky.eu

Just installed on Slackware 14.2 64 Bit, it just works :)
Thank you zerouno

Use skype slackbuild, but you need to install multilib http://www.slackware.com/~alien/multilib/

zerouno 07-23-2016 05:12 AM

The all-in-one skype package (called skype_static) already contains the 32bit needed libraries so you don't need to install multilib.
That libraries are not installed in /usr/lib but in a subdirectory of skype so the system remains clean.

If you have the alien multilib you does not need this skype_static.

Yes, the problem comes out when people don't know what "static" means and... when they don't read the "ReadMe" file lol
(Hoping no one get offended, am kidding)

Or the slack-desc during.

P.S. I have to modify the slack-desc that tells that also contains pulseaudio (that is false)
