Skype and slackware64-current (post 14.1)
I've installed multilib for Slackware Current like I have always done in the past. For whatever reason, skype segfaults on me like described in thise thread. I am already running the latest version of skype, so that is not the issue as far as I can tell. Also, doing an ldd /usr/bin/skype doesn't reveal any missing libraries.
Any ideas on what to try next? |
Can't really help with your question but here:
Few things to know about skype What Richard Stallman can say about skype? What is going on: Spy state shock: Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Facebook, Skype, AOL, Apple all secretly sharing private user communications with NSA Regards |
ukiuki, excellent! thank you for sharing this! I am removing Skype as I type :)
Strange though since during Assanges' "the world tomorrow" he uses Skype for the majority of his conferences with the guests on the show, but than again he knows things we do not! http://pirateproxy.ca/torrent/879424...row_-_Mp4_720p That's a link to the series hosted by Julian. I encourage everyone to watch it and see what real politics and news should be like! Not just the empires propaganda! Long live wiki leaks and free Julian Assange! |
Ok, great; but it still did not answer my question. Interesting information none the less. ;)

FYI skype works fine on my desktop and laptop, both running Slackware64-current with multilib. There must be a problem on your end which causes the segfaults. Any errors or backtraces?
And let's face it - any client/server communication where you do not control the server, is a possible candidate for government snooping. I run a teamspeak server at home, encrypted comms, that solves these eavesdropping issues. If you and your friends/family use skype or google talk, you have to refrain from talking terrorism or other unpleasantries. Eric |

Propaganda can be deceptive, at the same time it seen to be pulling us alway from the evil, what it is really doing is taking us around and back to the same evil but in a different instance, which gives a illusion of been in a different side, if you will. Now lets look closer to imperialism and its roots: http://www.conspiracy-truths.com/201...-bloodlines-3/ https://earthlinggb.wordpress.com/20...ity-of-london/ @stormtracknole I still can't help with skype, maybe this guy will give you some lights. Perhaps he's a Rothschild puppet, but it doesn't take away from his style of journalism. I have never seen anything like "The World Tomorrow" in the time I have lived. Here in America it is dumb luck for lack of a better phrase if real news is actually reported. The Arabian people and the people of South America and Central America have no voice in this country. They are never heard from, and there side is never taken into account by our media here in the states. We are left in the dark, meant to blindly follow our leaders and stand behind whatever decisions they make.
The fact that he brings these people and their leaders voices not only to the attention of the USA but to the world is unprecedented. His exposure of the corrupt foreign policies of many countries around the world has sparked numerous uprising's across the globe. There hasn't been turmoil in the media or hope for oppressed people, lead not just by words, but by example since Cuba's rise to independence in the 1960's. I think that his word's and action's speak for themselves considering the clear and present danger he has placed himself in selflessly sacrificing his freedom for the freedom of many. |
Yes i have watched all that, i mean all, but it isn't not that thick in terms of information that we can actually find, and there are people out there doing a much deeper research on what is really going on in our planet, take this 2 guys as example Rense and Daryl Bradford Smith, you'll see a much deeper level of information there. Things the main stream media won't touch and here is why.

Good point ukiuki, and I appreciate the information you listed and I'm trying to read everything you've posted, but it's not you or I who I'm worried about "waking up" so to speak. We obviously both have our minds in the right place, and we both have strong opinions on a system that we feel is obviously oppressive. Obvious to us, and many others as well. Yet many are preoccupied with there own concerns.
The point I was making is that Julian has reached deep into the mainstream media and become a household name, notorious if you will, to the point where he and his work, and the results of his work, can't be ignored. Not left on a hidden conspiracy theorists website or an overlooked YouTube video for spammers to jeer at with thoughtless comments in a nonconstructive format where there is no conversation or discussion, only a one sided point of view. The videos I listed include world dignitaries, philanthropists, educators, and political scientists, involved in open discussions in a constructive format, speaking on world matters about uncertain times that no one man can predict the outcome of. The truth has been exposed for all to see for many years, yet many are still left in the dark, unwilling to abandon there core values or unable to commit their time to such a transformation. The information you posted is quite credible, however, can the medium and it's makers reach and inspire the people who need it most? |
Good conversation, but not related to my question. Would you guys mind taking this somewhere else? Thanks!

Well, I have the same output as yours, but still have the same result. Interestingly enough, skype starts as root fine. I can't find anything in my $HOME that stores any config files. Will keep digging around.
