siocsifflags unknown error 132 - wlan0 intel wifi 5100

The thread title is the result of 'ifconfig wlan0 up'
ifconfig -a lists the interface
lsmod lists the kernel modules
interface was working perfectly prior to changing my / to another partition

I used the following command to transfer my / files to the new /
'find / -depth -print0 | cpio --null --sparse -pvd /new/'

everything else is working okay.

I will try a kernel rebuild, but any suggestions/advisement would be appreciated.

this is why you dont use your computer when you've been drinking: the wireless button was turned to off position.

That's wierd. When I've been drinking is when I usually get the most done, other than changing passwords and forgetting them.
