simple xfce/slackware question

lol... it's been a long day so please forgive-

so at the bottom of my screen in xfce i got my bar with my clock, & terminal, icons for my web browser, music player etc. at the top of my screen- i should have another bar- & evertime i reduce a webpage or app- it should appear as a small box in the bar at the top of the screen. except- the bar at the top of the screen is gone. lol. so everytime i reduce a webpage, etc.... it disappears. this is annoying i can't find the setting to bring it back- any ideas? lol.

p.s. xfce works fine on all other accounts, just this account is messed up (my main account.) i don't know the proper name for that bar thingie that's supposed to be at the top of my screen & the odd hours i've been working have left me absolutely loopy & sleep deprived. please forgive.

lol- thanks in advance....

Click on the desktop with right mouse button and choose Settings - Taskbar settings.
There enable taskbar and it should start to work.

settings/taskbar settings.... check

position
>top
alignment
>center
autohide is off
size
>height =small
>width =large

tasks
>show tasks from all workplaces
>show application names

pager
>show pager in taskbar

notification area
> show system tray in taskbar

um.... everything seems on the level... playing with these settings doesn't seem to do anything.

any more ideas?

You could try to deleting the .cache and .config directories in your /home/"username" directory. Reboot after doing this. Beware this will erase all of your xfce settings, and make new .cache and .config directories.

I only suggest this because I had a similar disappearing panel problem with xfce, and that was the only solution

From the GUI, hit Alt+F2 to bring up a run box and enter xftaskbar4 in it.
