I run two production VPS (email, dovecot, bitlbee) on Linode.com using 14.2
I've also been able to in a past instance upgrade them to -current though for stability reasons I do not do that anymore though it can be done.

Rock solid on Linode.

That is a commercial product now, at least according to DistroWatch.

Anyway... addressing the topic in a more serious manner: Void Linux, OpenBSD and FreeBSD seem the most Slackware-like.

p.s. If you have the time and patience, you can make a Slackware-like system in Gentoo or Linux From Scratch. The Slackware package tools can be adapted for LFS.

If the VPS provider uses an OpenStack solution, like OVH, and if they allow you to use custom images, you can create a compatible image, so every time you need a new server, just spawn it with your Slackware disk image.

The procedure to create such images is documented on multiple sites. I have created my own documentation (still a work in progress) https://slack9.io/articles/cloud_images.html When finished I plan to upload it into Slackware wiki.

I have tested this just with OVH OpenStack, and it works for my purposes. Without cloudinit support, there might be some difficulties setting up machines on some providers (ssh key injection and network configuration).

So?
First of all: the OP question was "Which is the OS that is most similar to Slackware?", not "Which free OS is most similar to Slackware?"
Second: What is wrong with "commercial" software?
Third: I think that "commercial" is too heavy a classification for the $11 a PartedMagic download costs.

Fail to see a correlation in this thread.

No one said there was anything wrong with commercial software.

They charge for it now, therefor it is commercial software.

I know many VDS hostings which provide downloading own iso. I think you will be able to find them.

I guess Void Linux most similar to Slackware.

Grahamiae is a specie discovered by Henrietta. Very rare. It essentially saved Henrietta's life.
