shutdown.
Whenever I try to shut down my computer...I get this...
shutdown: hda powering off. At this point...it just stops...and never actually turns off the computer. I use the GDM login manager...and shutdown from there. Help apreciated. Thanks. -RoaCh |
That's because neither APM or ACPI. Depending on your computer either start APM (plenty of posting here on LQ on how to do that) or your need to install an ACPI kernel from the Slackware CD.

But its linux... its ecstastic to get everything working ;) |
first do "#modprobe apm"
and then "#halt" ( or "#shutdown" ) if it stops,OK, remove the "#" preceeding the line " modprobe apm" in file "/etc/rc.d/rc.modules, so it's always loaded at boot. egag |
Gah I know what I did. I've recompiled the kernel recently...and forgot to enable ACPI support. I recompiled once again, this time with ACPI support, and all works fine now :).
