Shorewall Startup Error

I have a problem when I start Shorewall, it says I need the Iproute package, I try to make that package and it gives me this error. The version is 2.x

bash-2.05b$ make
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/evan/iproute2/lib'
gcc -D_GNU_SOURCE -O2 -Wstrict-prototypes -Wall -g -I../include-glibc -I/usr/include/db3 -include ../include-glibc/glibc-bugs.h -I/usr/src/linux/include -I../include -DRESOLVE_HOSTNAMES -c -o ll_map.o ll_map.c
In file included from ../include-glibc/netinet/in.h:7,
from ll_map.c:19:
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/in.h:140: field `gr_group' has incomplete type
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/in.h:141: confused by earlier errors, bailing out
make[1]: *** [ll_map.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/evan/iproute2/lib'
make: *** [all] Error 2

I'm not exactly sure on how to fix it?? Any solutions????

Are you running a 2.6 serie kernel ? If yes, I think Iproute is maybe incompatible with 2.6 because it look for in.h which is in the /usr/src/linux kernel source tree.

[ edit ]
maybe try to include /usr/include/netinet/in.h instead of /usr/src/linux/include/linux/in.h
see your ./configure options

No I am not using the the 2.6 kernel, I am using the 2.4 provided by Slackware 9.1. There is no configure the instructions are: make, make install to install iproute.

iproute2 is in the extras section

here is one mirror you can get it from:

ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/os/Linux/dist...are-9.1/extra/
