Okay, I've tried every solution I can find to get this printer working in Slackware, and it's just not happening.
I have the Canon common drivers and PPD file installed, etc., etc. CUPS sees the printer, and jobs sent to the printer show as completed, but nothing prints.
I installed Mint as a dual boot, and the printer works fine there, so I studied that config and finally just copied those config files to the slackware installation, but still no go.
Can someone who has this printer or a similar Canon, working in Slackware, walk me through their setup?
I've blacklist lpusb, as was suggested in several threads I found.
/var/log/cups/error_log does have the following:

It's funny really...My printing needs are really pretty simple, so setting up printing was about the last thing I needed to get going. However, this is eating my breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Sure, I can just boot into Mint to print whatever I need, but it really irks me to do that. I felt sure I could get this working.
I am not sure how important those libraries are for everyday printing. One appears to be a decompression library and the other seems more related to Windows generated files.
FWIW - I did find this on the Debian wiki. https://wiki.debian.org/PrinterDriver/Canon/UFR-II
I would suggest probing the required libraries using ldd as was done under step 3 of the wiki article. Perhaps something else is necessary. I seem to recall that some Epson drivers need a symlink created to be made to work.
I think that HOWTO is written in French. At any rate, I can't read it.
I do appreciate the link though.
Sometimes I find precious information on italian or hungarian websites, even though I speak these two languages very poorly. The Unix bits are universal.
