Setting up LILO with Grub2 as a Secondary BootLoader?
I installed Slackware Current on a new machine in /dev/sda1, then proceeded to install Debian Jessie in /dev/sda2. I instructed Debian to install Grub2 in /dev/sda2. LILO was installed on the MBR of /dev/sda. I wish to use LILO as my main bootloader, but to let it load Grub2 as a secondary loader when I choose to boot Debian. I find LILO much easier to use and edit than Grub.
Done it myself that way, many times with many distros.
Me too, I use this technique on all my PCs. It's called "chainloading".
I had been doing this with either LILO or GRUB 0.97 as my master boot loader until recently, but neither LILO, nor what is called GRUB Legacy these days, support the GPT partitioning scheme, so I had to switch to GRUB2 lately when I installed a 4-TB disk in one of my PCs.
