Setting Up Ethernet Card

How do I do it in Slack? Every other Linux distro I've had autoconfigs it.

The card is a Linksys Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet 10/100 NC100 (says lspci) however I don't know how to manually set it up. Can anyone help me?

Thanks,
~Drakkath

run ( as root ): #netconfig

and after that, run : #/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 restart

then check with #ifconfig if you have eth0

I ran netconfig and no eth0 in ifconfig.
=(

Perhaps the hardware isn't there?

Any ideas?

Try loading the tulip module with: /sbin/modprobe tulip
Then check if your card is recognized.

look with " #lspci " what the nic is you use,
and use " #lsmod " to list the modules that are loaded.

( don't know if you can paste that here ? )

results of lsmod

Module Size Used by Not tainted
soundcore 3396 0 (autoclean)
usbcore 58860 1
tulip 39200
crc32 2880 0 (tulip)
ide-scsi 9392 0

and lspci reports a Linksys Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet 10/100 model NC100 (rev 11)

Helpful?

Re-try a netconfig to see if it works now that tulip module is loaded
