setting gnome as desktop manager

I am using kde as my desktop manager system default...
however I want to use gnome for a spesific user account..

now I have seen other posts asking about the same thing but all I could find was linking a file called .xinitrc from the user's home dir to /etc/X11/xinit/sinit.gnome

well I tried that already and it didn't work for me..

I am still getting the default kde on my user's acc...
so
what is the solution to this situation ?

I am running slackware 9.1

thanks

Are you using a graphical login manager? Usually with gdm or kdm the user can chose their default session and that will stay with them until they change it again.

i tried this out the other day. i got my linux box running and my nepehw wanted an account but he wanted to use kde. So all i did was at login i signed in as root and added his account. I then exited root and started his account. i then typed XWMCONFIG and chose kde. so all you should have to do is chose gnome instead i hope this help's

I love slack it runs so easy i installed it on my toaster.
