serious dhcp problems...

I just recently used swaret to upgrade my slack on my desktop computer. BAD IDEA. Upon restart, a lot of programs and packages stopped working. The worst problem was the dhcp package. Running dhcpcd ath0 gives me the following output:
Code:
dhcpcd ath0
Segmentation Fault
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the dhcp package, but I guess there is a problem with a dependent script somewhere (but where can I find the debugging output??)

Someone please help... I'm about to reinstall Slack completely... ugh, and it's during exam week too

check to see if swaret upgraded your kernel
i use slapt-get so not sure, but swaret should have some sort of log that tells you what it upgraded
check dmesg to see what other services aren't working

no, I would have not let swaret upgrade my kernal. I've been using a custom 2.6.11.8 kernel for a good six months, and don't plan on upgrading anytime soon.
Code:
bash# dmesg|tail
outputs no code that can tell me anything about the problem with dhcp package.

looks like I'm stuck between a real rock and a hard place...

my current glibc version is 2.3.4

I just ended up installing the dhcp daemon package off the slackware oem disks... it works ok now, but I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of other problems arise soon enough

Did you remember to look for all the .new files and update your configs accordingly? Not doing so would be likely to break networking as you described.

Anytime I've come across Segmentation Faults after updating with Swaret I've updated glibc. Works nearly all the time.
