Seafile client for current

Hi all

I am looking for a Slackbuild for Seafile client since I have installed the "current" version.

I have installed the Slackbuild from Slackbuild.org when I was under 14.2 and I used it daily.

Having a new laptop, I was obliged to swith to current in order to make my WiFi card work.

I have contacted Marcel Saegebarth <marc@mos6581.de> who is the maintener for the 14.2 Slackbuild but he said me he does not want to maintain this Slackbuild any more.

seafile-server.SlackBuild for 14.2 might work well on current too, have you tried it?

@average_user I am looking for seafile-client not seafile-server

I have tried to use the 14.2 Slackbuild of seafile-client under current but it does not work ( library problem at compilation )

Forum member ponce maintains an unofficial repo of SlackBuilds to be used on -current. As things on the official repo break when building on -current, he and other forum members try to find fixes or newer versions that work. If they get it working, he pushes an update to his unofficial repo (which will be used as the starting ground for SBo when the next stable is released).

He has a thread to discuss broken packages and prefers posts to be in there. Make sure you read the first post before you report anything.

Looking at his repo, it seems like he hasn't pushed any changes for seafile-client, so either others aren't having issues with it or it just hasn't been reported yet.

looking at this topic I pushed changes for it and its dependencies this last weekend (they are actually available already in the latest version of the unofficial repository for current)

Thanks a lot @ponce for updating this Slackbuils for current

I have looked at all the dependencies of seafile-client and found all them on your Slacbuild site ... except one ?

Where is located the "jansson" Slackbuild ? It is needed by libsearpc and should be inside the "librairies" repository but I did not found it inside this directory

jansson is already provided in Slackware current: it has been added to it on march 24th 2018.

I have succesfully installed all the Slackbuilds up to seafile-client without any problems or errors.

But after looking at the available commands, I only see "seaf-cli" which is the command line interface of Seafile and "seaf-daemon"
which is the daemon.

But no command to launch the GUI ?

Looking in my old laptop under 14.2 , I see I had two packages related to Seafile :

- seafile-client which is the one I just installed

and

-seafile-gui which builds the GUI upon the client ( https://slackbuilds.org/repository/1...p/seafile-gui/ )

@ponce I do not see the seafile-gui Slacbuild on your site : do you plan to port it on current ?

Hi Desiderius, it seemed to me that you asked only for an update for seafile-client in your posts, I had no idea that you needed a gui...

the seafile-gui.SlackBuild is already there, but that needs to be updated too.

if you want a gui (actually via an applet) you have to:

- first remove the installed seafile-client;

- install seafile from this SlackBuild (this is actually a seafile-client.SlackBuild renamed);

- install seafile-client from this SlackBuild (this is actually a seafile-gui.SlackBuild renamed).

at the end you will have a binary named seafile-applet that you can launch.

note that I don't want to step in as a maintainer of this stuff so I will stop here...

Thanks A LOT Ponce ! it works ! YOU SAVE ME !

I am sorry : I did not remember there is a special applet for the GUI and I was thinking that the client ... was the GUI !

It is a pity that there is no more a maintener for this soft since there are many Seafile servers in the Universities or companies now ans a client GUI is mandatory for Linux !

Once again thank you very much

I looked at your Slackbuilds but did not find seafile-client !

The links above are still active mais do they run correctly on the actual version of current ?

https://github.com/Ponce/slackbuilds...seafile-client

I suppose you can also use stuff from the links above (should be the same), but be aware I haven't tested it after october as I am not the new maintainer, that is a position still vacant...
