I've installed a cli scrabble game, called scribble - you can find it in slackbuilds.org. It's a simple interface, but that's enough for playing this wonderful game on console. I would like to play it for other language than English. I want to play it in Romanian as a matter of fact. So, does anyone know how to prepare this tiny soft for this schema? If I changed the English dictionary from /usr/share/dict/scribble-english with a Romanian dictionary in a text file, taken from another software called Scrabble3D would be enough?
By the way: for those that are wondering how to install Scrabble3D in slackware 14, I can tell that's simple: just download rpm package from their site and transform it into txz package with rpm2txz cli utility. rpm2txz can be built from slackbuilds.org, too. After the conversion to txz, just do installpkg before the name of the txz Scrabble3D package.
So, if you know if that's possible to configure scribble for other languages than English lang, just be kind to teach us.
does it have its own dictionary?
it may use the central word repository /usr/share/dict/words. it may be a link to /etc back to a file named British-english say.
Test if scribble uses words by creating a small word repository it's just a normal text file one word per line.
I don't think it's so straightforward: if you look at the executable of the game, it's a perl script with an hardcoded $Lang variable and many other things english-specific (not to mention all messages that are in english).
as an example, see lines 109-111

I think it will need a lot of work to be used with a localization.
I thought so, too, because I saw the script you mentioned. I don't know how to pearl, so it's a bit harsh for me to solve it. Ok, no problem! I can use it just for English lang, cause I do need better skills here .
I saw the dictionary file under /usr/share/dict/scribble-english and I could realize that it's not just a simple text file with the containing word for the game. There are many numbers too, so I don't understand it very well.
As I've already said, when I'm under console and feel like gamin', I'll do it in English. Otherwise, I'll go in X with Scrabble3D.
