Screensaver not working in kde 3.5.3

Just upgraded to KDE 3.5.3 and for some reason the screensaver will not fire after the configured interval set in KDE Control Center. Any ideas? Sorry for the lame question, but I've tried several things, including the Display/Power Mgmt section under 'Peripherals'.

Running Slack 10.2, KDE 3.5.3, linux 2.6.13 (test26)

Did you upgrade to the KDE 3.5.3-i486-1 in -current?

If so, read the ChangeLog for Tue Jun 27 18:18:30 CDT 2006:

I had the same problem...and other problems, too, with 3.5.3. I've tried the packages from -current, and the ones from KDE built for 10.2. I ended up going back to 3.5.2 and decided to wait 'til Slackware 11 and hope it's less buggy then.

I had the same problem

(but the one with tux flying the spaceship seemed to work ok for some reason)

This is a common KDE upgrade bug. I believe it's being caused by a conflicting ~/.kde directory from the previous version. Wiping this out and reconfiguring KDE worked for me, but maybe you can find a less annoying fix.
