screen saver issue

My screen saver works for the specified time, but when it's 10 mins is up it then freezes, the screen saver just stops and the monitor light does not turn yellow. It just sits there with the screen saver at whereever it was at 10- minutes, it does NOT lock my computer up, but it doesn't sleep the monitor. Any ideas why?

I had the same problem with a GeForce FX5200 and using both the nv and nvidia drivers. The monitor and graphics card certainly did support the monitor going into sleep mode.

I could never find a solution, and just put up with it.

I suspect the driver hasn't the code to implement the functionality, though I could be wrong, the same system could put the same monitor to sleep with another non-nvidia graphics card
