screen brightness control

can someone tell me how do I control screen brightness in my laptop? I have cpufreq scaling set in my kernel and use the userspace governer. I use "powernowd" tool for changing my cpu operating freq.

Screen brightness controls should be adjustable via the keyboard, and this is not something I think has anything to do with Linux. Do you still have the user manual?

Also, can you specify the exact laptop model you are using, other LQ'ers who may be using the same model may be able to offer better advice

As an aside, on my T40, the birghtness control is increased via Fn+Home, and decreased with Fn+End

I have a Toshiba A45-S151. The key supposed to control screen brightness is Fn+F6(decrease) and Fn+ F7(increase).But it dosent work. So is there any other means?
