Scanner that is larger than 8.5x11"

I suppose this should be in hardware but I'm using Slackware I'm scanning some old deeds my parents gave me and some are longer than 11". Anyone know of a scanner with a longer glass that will work with Linux?
Or another alternative would be some good software than can stitch two images together?

Well if you already have a scanner, just scan them and use GIMP to splice them together.

I'm not having a whole lot of luck splicing, are there any plugins for gimp to help, something like the panorama mode in a camera that you overlap and it figures out where to spice based on that?

Yes, there is a plug-in to help:
http://www.shallowsky.com/software/pandora/

Technically there is also a program if you wanted something better:
