sboutils -- small tools to interact with SBo. Interested to test and review?

hi All!

I'll be interested to hear your opinion about several small tools I made:
https://github.com/slackalaxy/sboutils

The tools can view information from SlackBuilds.org, show dependencies and report what is already installed, run SlackBuilds individually, help with dowloads and md5s check, as well as, help when creating a new SlackBuild. They are inspired by the package management tools from CRUX (but just "inspired", unfortunatelly I lack the skills to port their excellent tools).

Any feedback and suggestions are much appreciated. Also, it would be great if someone is interested to test them, because I cannot predict all possible hiccups. Sure, I doubt sboutils will break your system, but keep in mind that they are still in a "testing phase" :p.

Finally, if someone is willing to go through the code and give me feedback on it, I will very much appreciate it.

The README file is quite extensive, so even if you are not interested, you can at least take a look at what the idea is.

you can reach me by email: slackalaxy at gmail dot com
or at IRC: ppetrov^

best,

Petar

a small update... since I'll be busy with other stuff in the following weeks, I decided to call the current sboutils as 0.01_beta:
https://github.com/slackalaxy/sboutils/tags

there are many small improvements... as an example, sboask now shows which dependencies have an update available, like this:

Code:

bash-5.1$ sboask info rstudio-desktop

Name:    rstudio-desktop
Version:  2022.07.1+554
Category: development
Homepage: http://rstudio.com

RStudio is a cross-platform IDE for the R statistical computing
environment. It is available in desktop and server versions.
This builds the Linux desktop version.

RStudio currently only supports 64-bit systems.

The last supported version of RStudio for 32-bit systems is 1.1.463.
A rstudio-desktop-legacy SlackBuild for 32-bit systems is available.

Keywords: R, IDE, statistics, data, analytics
