sbopkg question: in search of Xfce-Theme-Manager

I'm trying to theme my desktop and I can't seem to get this theme manager for xfce, neither by using SBopkg nor Slackbuilds.

Question of MD5SUM

Is anyone reading this who uses xfce able to redirect me to a working package?

Here is the code I get using sbopkg:

Code:

Processing Xfce-Theme-Manager

Xfce-Theme-Manager:
Found Xfce-Theme-Manager-0.1.18.tar.gz in /var/cache/sbopkg.
Checking MD5SUM:
  MD5SUM check for Xfce-Theme-Manager-0.1.18.tar.gz ... FAILED!
    Expected: 8452476918f35cba908eaa8a3e83bdf7
    Found:    cb83b347e3e714f072ffa294c2506fd8

Do you want to use the downloaded Xfce-Theme-Manager source:
Xfce-Theme-Manager-0.1.18.tar.gz in /var/cache/sbopkg?

You can choose among the following options:
 - (Y)es, keep the source and continue the build process;
 - (N)o, delete the source and abort the build process; or
 - (R)etry download and continue the build process.

(Y)es, (N)o, (R)etry?:

And taken of the zero-reply list.

EDIT: You shouldn't ask a question, withdraw the question and then edit it for a second time to ask (another?) question. As you have noticed a lot can happen in 15 minutes......

EDIT2: I asked a mod to remove my post (not sure if that is possible though). I've been in contact with a moderator and we decided to leave all the post in tact.

Apologies and kind thanks for having taken the effort to respond.

(I am having difficulty finding how to completely delete a message; so I resorted to the edit tactic, which, as you point out, can cause people to waste their time: so again, sincere apologies combined with thanks)

No real harm done :)

BTW: You cannot remove a post yourself once it has been posted. In certain cases the moderators are able to do this (ask them nicely by using the report button). Do make an indication for others that you have done this.

textillis,

did you sync before attempting to install? You can always download the tarball manually and check the MD5SUM yourself. Also, try pressing "(R)etry download and continue the build process".

Thanks.
So, you mean the first option, right? Yes, I did that earlier in the day.
Surely you don't have to do it each time you use it though?

I'll give it a go and see if that works.

Thanks again,
cheers

Edit: that didn't work either:
here is the output if you have a chance to look at it:

well, it gives the same MD5SUM mismatch here, too. Probably the source tarball changed or sth. You can inform the maintainer of the script at SBo. I guess you can just ignore it and continue if you are not afraid :P

Thanks. At least that "normalizes" my failure :(
(sigh, this is sooooo hard)

solarfields 07-20-2013 09:58 AM

What is so hard? Tell us, we can probably help.

ponce 07-20-2013 10:49 AM

as you can see here, the person providing the tarballs for Xfce-Theme-Manager (that, in this case, is also the SBo's slackbuild maintainer) has made available new versions taking away the old ones from the download space (bad practice), that's why wgetting the file results in a 404 error ("file not found") and the thing downloaded is an html file containing the error (and this is the reason why the md5sum is different).
Maybe the best thing to do in your case is:
- write a mail to the slackbuild's maintainer (you can find his address here or in the .info file) telling him that the build script he submitted to SlackBuilds.org doesn't work anymore because he removed the old version from the download space;
- make a local copy of the slackbuild's folder, edit it and substitute where the variable VERSION is present the value "0.1.18" with "0.1.20";
- download the newer version Xfce-Theme-Manager-0.1.20 in the same folder;
- launch the build and create a package for the new version.

Ponce! may the gods that don't exist smile on you anyway!
I did exactly as you suggested, including the email, e, ecco!

cwizardone 07-20-2013 11:58 AM

The newest version is 0.3.3.
I've tried to compile it several times since it first became available and it has always ended up in an error.
Just tried it, again, and it came back with this error,

Quote:

sed: can't read Makefile: No such file or directory
Just tried it with 0.1.20 and it worked this time.
Thanks.
