SBLIVE! 24Bit working!!
Holy Cow I can't believe it. I installed Slackware 10.1 and performed alsaconf and lo and behold there was the dreaded CA0106 driver. I've tried Fedora, Mandrake, Suse, Debian and finally Ubuntu.
Then I said to my self that I wasn't being true to my roots. /me thinks back to his slack 4.0 days. I grew up on Slack and I'm staying with Slack. None of those other distros did anything for me. I didn't even recompile my kernel either. That's coming today. I see someone replied to an earlier post. Thanks so much. Soon I'll be sporting a 2.6.10 kernel hehe. But the sound isn't perfect but at least it's working I don't know if installing dropline gnome helped or note but that's the only other thing I did besides installing the nvidia drivers. So to fellow SB Live 24bit value users fear not it will work

Why do you go and break something that works. I suppose it's a Slackware mentality eh?
We Debian people never have these problems.

Yes. If you're confident enough to go messing around config files, kernel modules and init scripts, Slackware is good.
I forget the number of times I ran modprobe and alsaconf after I installed Slackware.
Finally got sound working too with 2.6.10! So I can join your celebration!

Jesterace---
I just installed an SBLive! 24 myself, running stock slack 10.1 (2.4.29 kernel). I use KDE. The thing works, but I'm getting a clickety skipping with the audio running quickly when using SDL-enabled apps. Noatun plays .mp3 files fine, and it seems that SDL-enabled .wav files play fine too. Only music (.mod, .mp3, .ogg, etc) runs fast through the SDL things.
Can you at all help in this regard? Do you have a similar problem? I like the 5.1 output I get when playing through Xine (YAAAY! Xine worked OUT OF THE BOX on this release, and DOESN'T CRASH!!!), and would like to get all the sound output working properly.
TIA,
Henry C. Gernhardt, III

Unfortunately I don't have much information on that problem. Mine works fine at my end however I only have a 2.1 setup. And I don't have any experience with KDE. I use Gnome as my desktop Environment.

Henry:
I just decided to dust off my failed efforts at getting that frelling sound card to work, and got it all working. Including DVD playback in Xine.
Unfortunately, wasn't able to get digital output for my 5.1 surround, but when faced with a choice between choppiness, and plain old stereo, I'll take plain old stereo. I need to test it with a DVD that has the THX tuning wizard (I've got several) to be sure if 4-point or 5.1 are working properly.
Anyway, I fixed the choppy sound by telling it to use OSS for the sound driver. In Xine's configuration, that's under Audio, but you're probably going to have to increase your "experience" level under UI to Expert or higher to set that.
In the mean time, I'll just give it time until either they come out with a driver that explicitly supports 5.1 digital for this device, or until I get tired enough of stereo sound to bother trying to fix it. Considering how often I watch DVD's on my computer, I'll probably get around to it some time around half past never.
