Saving my kernel & then using it for installation

Any ideas how to do it? I want to save my current custom kernel to cdrom and then re-install using this kernel, what files do I need to save? I can't imagine its as easy as just saving vmlinuz to a cd or is it (gotta confess I've absolutely no idea what I'm doing here)

I wasn't planning on doing so, I just want to be able to use the normal installation but with my kernel instead of bare.i

I doubt I've got the know-how to make a slack live cd, but maybe in the future

If I remember correctly, during the Slackware install it asks from where you would like to install your kernel from. Choose 'floppy' and if you can, get your kernel, kernel config, and System.map files all on that floppy. This depends on the size of your kernel but I think it might be possible.

It doesn't fit onto a floppy but I assume I can just as easily tell it to look on a cdrom?

so am I right in thinking I need to save only the following:

vmlinuz
system.map
+ kernel config (what is this called?)

thanks for the help

/boot/System.map
/boot/config
/boot/vmlinuz
/lib/modules/<kernelversion>/
