SATA support?

Hello,
Slackware maybe my choice for Linux.
The only two factors remaining are:
Does Slackware 9.1support SATA hard drives?
Does Slackware 9.1 support an nVida GeForce 128MB video card?
I have 2 Western Digital WD C WD1200JD-75GBB0 hard drives(which are SATA based) and I am looking for a Linux Distribution that supports these hard disks.

Standard Slackware 9.1 does not support this.

The latest kernel's (2.4.25 and 2.6.4) do. So you need te recompile a kernel for your SATA controller. This must be done on a linux platform so if you don't have another computer or "friends" who can compile a new kernel i am afraid you will have to wait for a new slack release

And slackware runs on your NVIDIA card, you just need to download the driver and install it.

I'd like to add to the first response in that it's more "Does this distro support my SATA controller?" then the drives themselves. The controllers are the more important part. If you have the full Slack set, the live CD may allow you to compile the kernel options you need.

BTW: I've installed Slack 9.1 directly on a SATA drive without a PATA drive in-between, but I had another install to build the Promise SATA controller driver module, which I put on a floppy and then loaded before running setup.

Good Luck!
