SATA Secondary Drive in 9.1

I am trying to install a new SATA drive on my Slackware 9.1 box, which is fully patched to the 2.4.26 kernel in the /patches dir on ftp.slackware.com. On boot, everything is detected ok....it finds my SATA chipset, the controller, and the disk drive, however, booting freezes when it gets to the message:

hde: attached ide-disk driver

Anybody have any ideas to help solve the problem? This is not a primary drive. Its for file storage only. My primary OS disk is still a regular IDE drive as primary on IDE1, and my Motherboard is an Intel D865GBFL.

Thanks.

BEI

This is what I get with Slackware 10 with 2.4.26 kernel.

The fix is to upgrade your kernel to 2.6.*

Not true, i'm running 2.4.26 and it fully recognises my 250 gig SATA drive... I'd help you but mine was detected and set up on a fresh install of slackware.

Yes, but Slackware 10 kernel (2.4.26) does not recognise SOME (most) of the SATA controllers. I had to use 2.6.7 to work with the Intel D865PERL. Which is the chipset as what BEI have.
