Same Desktop icons gnome/kde?

Hi,
Is there a way to keep desktop icons different in Gnome than in KDE?
Like, I don't need the "start here" icon in Gnome showing up unfuntional on the KDE desktop, it looks messy. I suppose I could just create another user for myself. mekde and megnome,
Thanks

When I used both, I ended up having 2 folders, $/Desktop for Gnome, and $/KDesktop for KDE. Then I went into KDE's control panel, changed the path, and then created a symbolic link in $/KDesktop to $/Desktop/Trash or whatever the path was.

Did you create a 2nd desktop folder for gnome?
I'm thinking of using fluxbox maybe. I want something clean so I can concentrate on writing text.
Thanks Again.

Nah, I just created a new desktop folder for KDE, changed KDE's paths in the control center/panel, and left Gnome how it was. I didn't want to try finding out how to change that. Now that I don't use KDE or Gnome anymore, however, I don't find that to be a problem. My desktop is what people might call minimalistic, it only has the background picture:
