samba server not seen by none native kde apps

Hi all. Not sure if this is the correct place or not, but I am not able to see my samba server from the likes of Handbrake, FF, gimp etc. However, from Dolphin and Libreoffice, there is no problem.

Is this because the former are not native to KDE, whilst the latter are, or in the case of Libreoffice, been compiled to work with that DE.

And is there a way to get the former to see my samba shares in their inbuilt file browsers?

KDE includes support for browsing SMB shares without actually mounting them, which is something stand-alone applications cannot do normally.

If you want an SMB share to be seen by the system itself (rather than just KDE), you need to mount it manually. The Ubuntu documentation has a pretty good explanation of SMB client setup:
