Samba on Slack new user help!

First of all a bold hail to the community, and even if I donīt have any replies thanks in advance for the time and attention.

I have a mail/login/file server Slack 10 here with Samba, I never had a chance to work before with neither slack or samba but adding new users and minor management were never a big issue, until today (and all alone no other linux user brothers around).

It seems that the secretary has a special group that gains acess thro Samba to a virtual Drive S: upon log in, and Iīve been trying to add a new user to this group, or give to this new user acess to this drive so he can work on the S: files on the windows enviroment they insist on using for now.

Could anyone give me any hint on which user files I should edit to give this new user the exclusive acess to this S: samba drive, that no one else beside the secretary group has

Once again thanks in advance and keep it strong.

I am a bit confused by the question. Do you want to add this new person to the secretary group, or not?

If you just want to add him to the secretary group after the user was already created, you would use usermod, specifically the -G option, which allows you to put the user into other secondary groups.

Yes I would like to add this new user already created to the group, will try the usermod (even not sure if this would work out, trying to learn ) this user need acess to the group drive S: . On the Samba login, I noticed that a small script goes on but only a few select users have acess to this special virtual drive and I have no idea which permissions file I should look for (been digging on the \etc\samba but no luck so far for user-group info).

By the way added to the group (but no luck) and the

/etc/samba/smb.conf

Do have the propreties for this special drive including those with the rights to write and read, I have added this new user there with Vi even so itīs not working, after restarting the service logging in with this new user is not showing the drive on the list.

Anyone

Ok will list here in case anyone has the same problem someday as I figured it out somehow.

1) make sure the user primary group is set to the one with the load the script (/home/samba/netlogon/<name.bat>) tried adding the group later and it did not work, kept loading the script for regular users (users.bat) without the virtual folder I needed.

2) edit the /etc/samba/smb.conf look for the virtual drive entry and write down the name of the user you need on both the read/write fields.

And well worked.
