@timsoft Congratulations on the slackbuild and working so diligently on this issue. Would you mind providing some information on your Linux configuration so that it is crystal clear what is the minimum versions of software used to get this working? For example Slackware 14.2, multilib?, samba version? dolphin version? thunar version? any other setups not already described in the wsdd2 slackbuild package?
Currently I too am using defind hosts and shares on computers. I also enabled Avahi for my children to use Apple's method, but it isn't supported in Thunar, Dolphin or Windows Browser explorer. I'm just wondering if wsdd2 will allow me to replace Avahi?
Lastly, have you considered doing a write-up for Slackware Docs or Wiki? It would be an excellent stand alone write-up or added to the samba write-up.

Dolphin 20.04.0 onwards can use WS-Discovery to publish samba hosts. Thunar does not yet has this capability. I know that it is being worked on for Gnome Fies (Nautilus)... https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/issues/506

Dolphin should discover Linux samba hosts via Avahi - it has done for some time.

In the context of SMB2/SMB3 networks where NetBIOS discovery is not used any longer, WS-Discovery is great. However, so far only the Dolphin file manager is employing this discovery protocol.
Thanks for the information. I guess since I don't use KDE, infact removed the KDE packages that wsdd2 won't really help me. I'll have to continue with Avahi for the kids when they come over with their ipads and use defined paths for my other small home network. I'll still watch this thread for developments. Have you tested with a -current setup to confirm Dolphin still works and PV hasn't removed that build function, I know Dolphin isn't supporting Avahi, heck I'd load back all the KDE to my 14.2 if it was built for Avahi. Cheers, BrianA_MN

I can't really comment about Slackware specifically (I'm using openSUSE Leap 15.2 with KDE 5.18.5, Dolphin version 20.04.2) and both Avahi discovery and WS-Discovery are working nicely.
