samba installation problem

Hello everybody:
I tried to install samba 3.0 on slackware 10. The make command return the following error:

/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-slackware-linux/3.3.4/../../../../i486-slackware-linux/bin/ld: cannot find -lssl
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [bin/smbd] Error 1

Does anybody know what is the cause of this problem? Is there a package that I did not installed?

you haven't got the libraries/headers for ssl, (secure socket layer), get them, install - maybe with ldconfig afterwards then try again, otherwise install with rpms, which is often much easier.
