Samba i need help with Home Network (Wireless & Tethering)
Hi there again. i am trying to configure samba for access via Thunar, i use Xfce . i wrote my own Guide on my blog (Inukaze Wordpress)
Well the thing is my pc is connected to the Wireless Home Network via Smarthphone using Tethering (my pc dont have Wifi or Bluetooh hardware) How i should configurare the smb.conf for example if the main network is 192.168.1.2/255.255.255.0 and the network with Static IP is : 192.168.42.130/255.255.255.0 How i can configure for samba can access to my pc ??? |
would be nice to explain a bit better:
where is your samba running, where do you want to reach it from (ips, routing, gateway, network, whatever...). How is/are your samba shares configured.... |
I think you need a separate SMB client for phone, if it is Android. Tried few of them, some of them worked, but I wasn't too happy with either one.
The most convenient option for me was CurlFTPFS (FUSE FTP file system driver) and FTP server on the phone. Danny Michaeli's FTP server is running on Android side. I have been writing and executing some scripts directly on the phone, using ScriptIt Javascript engine. Allowed me to edit files on shared drive in Geany running on PC. It is simple, stupid and robust. I don't recommend running FTP server all the time for security reasons. |
On myu pc . i use Slackware64 14.2
The Phone is a Doogee Voyager 2 ( Codename : DG-310 ) with Android 5.0 and there is the content of my current "/etc/samba/smb.conf" Code:
# Archivo : /etc/samba/smb.conf The Gateway of the main network is : 192.168.1.1 and in the phone is 192.168.42.129 (ever) |
