Unhappy Samba and Nautilus

I don't know what Samba is, i don't know what Nautilus is. I just heard sth like : if u want to see the other computers in your network install samba and then use the nautilus application to view the shared files on the others PCs.
Now:
-is correct ?
-how to install samba ? how to configure it ? (some commands plz)
-how do i know if i have nautilus application ? and if i don't have nautilus, from where could i get it ?

Is there any other solution for my little "problem" ? (my problem=i want to see all the other computers from a complex LAN )

samba http://samba.org - read the docs. also search this site.

nautilus is the default file viewer in Gnome. you do not need nautilus at all, it just makes it a little easier.
