Question Safely Upgrading to KDE 4.3.1 packages from vbatts

I want to upgrade my KDE packages using the files from http://cardinal.lizella.net/~vbatts/...ges/4.3.1/x86/, but I don't quite know how is the safe way to do that.

How could I know if there's a package already installed (so I can upgradepkg), or if it's new (so I have to installpkg)?

Should I have to download the files from there and somehow cross the information with the installed packages in /var/log/packages? Is there a simple way to do that, without checking one-by-one?

Thanks in advance!

Try:

Code:
cd
lftp -c "open http://cardinal.lizella.net/~vbatts/kde/kde4-packages/4.3.1/ ; mirror x86"
cd x86
upgradepkg --install-new *.t?z

It has been recommended that you delete (or rename) the .kde folder in your /home/user directory before restarting with the new version of KDE. Doing so avoids odd behavior when the new KDE tries to use the old KDE's settings.

Thanks, shylock and lufbery!
I'll try and install it with those recommendations... Luckly there's this option in upgradepkg!!
