Ryzen 5 5600G - xf86-video-amdgpu-21.0.0-x86_64-1?

Hello,

For the Ryzen 5 5600G, using the onboard Vega gpu, will the xf86-video-amdgpu-21.0.0-x86_64-1 drivers in Slack 15.0 work?

I'm also compiling 5.15.36, do I need any AMD GPU options compiled in the kernel?

THANKS

seems like kernel 5.16 brings some performance improvements for the integrated graphics card

Yes, you will need those drivers and yes, they will work as well.

You need to have the firmware package installed, there you will find a folder called amdgpu, the firmware will load itself and you will notice since there will be a change of screen resolution during boot.

Yes, you need to have the options enabled for amdgpu in the kernel, I do not remember very well but I think that if you look for admgpu in the kernel options there will be a text explicit enough to tell which option activate.

I am using a 5600G on my work computer with 15.0. Works fine right out of the box, no configuration needed. Only thing I did was enable the "TearFree" option in an xorg.conf.d file.

File: /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-amdgpu.conf

Code:
Section "Device"
   Identifier  "AMD Graphics"
   Driver      "amdgpu"
   Option      "TearFree"  "true"
EndSection

@slac not sure what firmware package you are talking about?

I have this firmware set in the Kernel;

(amd-ucode/microcode_amd_fam17h.bin) Build named firmware blobs into the kernel binary

@Daedra I did an expert install of 15.0 and I compile my kernels.

THANKS

All right, I already found the option that I was telling you and that is: "CONFIG_DRM_AMDGPU=m", of course you can set it up as 'y' as well.

And for the firmware package, I am referring to: "./slackware64/a/kernel-firmware-$VERSION-noarch-1.txz". There you will find the "amdgpu" folder.

I have CONFIG_DRM_AMDGPU=m and the kernel firmware is installed already.

As I mentioned I also set it to build the firmware blobs in the kernel;

(amd-ucode/microcode_amd_fam17h.bin) Build named firmware blobs into the kernel binary

THANKS
