Running Slack 9.1 in a VMWare machine?

For some testing purposes, I wanted to use Slack 9.1 in a VMWare machine (VMWare 4 on WinXP). I can install the OS wihtout a problem, but after the reboot all I get is a black screen.

My partitions and bootflags are set up ok (I tried both fdisk and cfdisk), lilo is configured correctly as well.

Are there perhaps any known issues between VMWare and Slack?

Yes I did

strange... when I boot my VM I don't get any picture, but my CPU load gets 100% steady..

I don't use Slackware, but ... did you install in text mode? did you install Vmware tools as per instructions for a VM machine? Did you ensure that your host screen resolution was not greater than 16-bit? Are you using Vmware 4.0.5 or the newer 4.5? What kernel are you running in Slackware?

I found this problem when setting the boot framebuffer resolution/colour depth too high. Fixing this on a later installation left me at the usual login prompt. Do you get a completely black screen? Or do you see text before it goes blank?
