rpm problems


I am trying to install recital on topologilinux (tlinux!) get following message in KDE and command prompt

error failed dependancies /bin/sh is needed by recital-8.5-3

Package only available in RPM format.

Tlinux is slackware 9 based.

is there anymore to that error? does the package make an install log file that you can copy+paste ?

install with the --nodeps option.
on linux sh is usually a symlink to bash.

-- nodep doesn't work but it does get further!!
I will post more details tomorrow as it is late and I have had enough of linux for today!!!

Can't see a log file any where will try and pipe the output later

sh should already be there, but
you can
ln -s /bin/bash /bin/sh

Of course it's there :)

But since none of slacks packages
are installes using RPM rpm won't
knwo about it ;) as it doesn't show
up in the rpm database ....

he is using a weird linux though.
it looks like the error isn't that sh isn't installed,
but that /bin/sh doesn't exist. i've never seen a
sh rpm.

Try converting the rpm to tgz...

rpm2tgz packagename.rpm

And then try installing it with pkgtool.
