root problem
Ok here is the situation, i was tinkering with some of the permissions from /sbin and /var and a few other folders. I can login as root from a command prompt and startx using my normal root password from command prompt. But if I startx as normal user and try to run any programs that need to be run by root from normal user and switching over to root I get a bad password. Now my root password works fine if i dont startx, but when i startx, anything i try to run as root it tells me i its a bad password. Any suggetsions?

Could you post a sequence of command that bring you the password errors, also the errors
