Rhythmbox repository for Slackware64-14.2

Hello guys,

I've successfully built Rhythmbox 3.3.1 on Slackware64-14.2 and made an easy-to-use repository for it.

Other than slackbuilds.org, this repository also includes a lot of thirdparty plugins (Android, Ampache, System Tray, Equalizer, a tempo plugin, YouTube search and many more), WebKit2 support, Visualizations and all of the python libraries that are needed to drive those things.

In short: You get everything. Except Brasero, because nobody burns CDs anymore and I don't want to include it. :P

This will be continually updated and improved.

How to install:

Get slackpkg+, then edit /etc/slackpkg/slackpkgplus.conf and make sure you alter REPOPLUS and add MIRRORPLUS to create a new repository 'rhythmbox':

Code:
REPOPLUS=( slackpkgplus rhythmbox )
MIRRORPLUS['rhythmbox']=https://schmatzler.de/my_slackbuilds/rhythmbox/
Then install it:
Code:
slackpkg update gpg
slackpkg install rhythmbox
That's it! Now you can use it. If you want to enable some additional features like Avahi support or the dark theme, see here for further instructions.

Have fun and please report bugs!

schmatzler,

thank you for your efforts. Why don't you submit all the missing thirdparty plugins to SBo in order to get a complete Rhythmbox there?

Alright - I have added brasero, libburn and libisofs to the repository.
The CD burning functionality is now included.

For some of the libraries I use later versions than are available on SBo. I also don't know if all the plugins work with Rhythmbox 3.2.1, because I'm offering 3.3.1.

And I don't have the time to test all of this. But it is opensource, anybody can do it!

A few updates in my repository:

New plugin rhythmbox-plugin-opencontainingfolder: Opens the directory of your selected music track in the default file browser
New plugin rhythmbox-plugin-ratingfilters: Filters out music based on how well you've rated it
New plugin rhythmbox-plugin-rhythmremote: Control the player in your browser. A much better alternative to rhythmweb with a design not depending on GNOME assets. Comes with bottle as a dependency.

I've also rebuilt Rhythmbox itself and added two features from the current development branch, because they are very useful for me: Soundcloud pause and pagination.

Apart from that I noticed that the alternative toolbar plugin is constantly crashing and it seems like there is already a bug report opened up here. I'll try to get a more useful debug output so this can hopefully be fixed soon.

If Rhythmbox doesn't start anymore after enabling the plugin you can remove it from the list of active plugins by running dconf-editor and editing the value in org/gnome/rhythmbox/plugins/active-plugins.

Have fun!

I'm new to Slackware, and Linux in general. Running 14.2.
I've successfully installed the repository, I think. I found that m4a files - from iTunes, whether purchased or not - weren't recognized with this package alone, don't know why because it has the gst bad and ugly plugins included.
I've added some more plugins from the alienbob repo and it is now able to play them, even purchased ones.

However, it doesn't want to encode a cd for example, to mp4. Just crashes as soon as you click the button.

Is there something else needed for this?

Unfortunately, I haven't really been able to keep this repository updated.

Since it was built on -current a while ago, things have probably been broken by updates on that.

I have no time at the moment to get this back on track, sorry. Maybe someone else can step in? The SlackBuilds I used are all available on the website.
