i have mythtv compiled and working (ish) and would like to get the remote working for the 1100 card i have, i have googled a bit and found somethings here and there but i only seem to be able to get the arrow keys and the numbers to work - everything else doesnt.
This is prob a simple thing for most but has me stumped - and yes i build myth with lirc support
and would like to get the remote working for the 1100 card i have
What kind of remote and what card are you talking about?
Personally, I found that getting lirc to work is far from simple and requires reading through the documentation from the lirc website very carefully and thoroughly.
Are you having problems with lirc itself or mythtv detecting input from lirc? Please be more specific about what your problem is.
http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/pages/pro...a_hvr1100.html - is the card, problem is as i have listed above, the only keys that work are the up down left right arrows, and the number pad keys 0-9, no other keys work at all, so im guessing its a lircd config issue
I don't use myth so I don't know exactly how it gets input form lirc.
I use irkick for my kde applications (amarok, kaffeine) and irexec for tvtime.
If you are sure the problem isn't with myth not picking up the keys, then maybe you need to manually populate lircd.conf with lircrcd.
Are these special keys working with any other application?
If your remote is the same as the one in the picture in the link you posted, then it is the same as mine. All buttons work for me with the default lircd.conf file created during lircd install, using the Hauppauge_350 section.
yes its the same as the link i posted - im guesing its the slackbuild i used or something, you reckon i should grab latest lirc and just run setup.sh && install ?
someone else did suggest tvtime - i thought because its last release was in 2005 devolopment had stoped

Like I said, my remote works with the Hauppage_350 settings. See if you can get your remote to work with IRkick (kde). If all the buttons work, then the problem must be with mythtv configuration.
I use tvtime because it works and I don't need DVB support since my Hauppauge card is just a tv tuner card. If you want to use DVB features, then you should try to get Mythtv to work. Otherwise, tvtime might be simpler.
irkick sees everything now and all shows that lircd is up and running yet i still connect get any of the keys to work, its like the reciever is not picking up the key presses on the remote, i have tried making it learn the keys but that errors out saying no input for 10 seconds aborting, i have tried your conf above and the ones that come with lirc - nothing is is working
sticker under batteries says a415-hpg-we - well i think im about to give up, i have tried everything i can and still the only keys that work are the arrows and the numbers

so can anyone tell me what im doing wrong or why its not picking up the keys on the remote
I'd like to help you but you haven't really answered the questions that I asked you. From what I can gather, you seem pretty certain that the problem lies with lircd itself and not mythtv.
Have you made sure the appropriate modules have been loaded?
Code:
modprobe lirc-dev
modprobe lirc-i2c
If I remember correctly, the lirc-i2c module is especially important for hauppauge remotes.
all that is loaded and as i have said im having issues with irkicker too - as my post above says, one thing i have noticed is that the remote is on /dev/input/event0 and hal seems to think that there is a keyboard on that, hal-keyboard-addon, and i am wondering if that could be an issue
irkicker only seems to pick up the remote if i use /usr/sbin/lircd --device=/dev/lirc0 --output=/dev/lircd
as far as i can tell i have the correct setitngs in the conf files, and the remote is being seen as the keypad keys 0-9 and the up down left and right arrows are dectected.
I'am using an AverMedia AverTV 771 DVB-T card and on my system, the remote control is listed /dev/input/, too.
I think, there are some options for lircd you can specify like driver or so. As I remember the driver was called dev/input, but you can view list all supported the drivers anyway.
If you found that commandline switch, the right driver, and started lircd, there is a program, with which you can generate your own config file for your remote control(if you havent found your remote control on the lirc homepage).
(Some of this hints could be wrong, because I got it working a while ago and I can't remember really clear.)
think i tried that command from somewhere else and it was giving me an error - i will have to check this weekend when i have sometime and can get round to re-installing my pc's they had a sudden case of low level format syndrome - mainly where i got really peeved with them and wiped em
did you try out irw to see if you get any output on the screen? What kernel are you using? The latest stable lirc is only tested with 2.6.20.x kernel so AFAIK you would have to use lirc cvs with 2.6.21 and 2.6.22. I am sure you have device nodes properly created...also check the lirc log.
I'm have mythtv with slackware and lirc was working fine till version 11. Not any more after 12.0 upgrade. Everything else works except lirc. So i'm stuck too.
from mem i would say yes all the nodes are/were created and i tried irscan but it always kept saying no input detected after 10 seconds aborting, only keys that work are the up down left and right arrows and the ok key - i will have a look into the issue over the weekend, will have a bit of time then - just have to remember where the build scripts for everything is would you suggest usintg the stock slack12 kernel or updating it using slack12 .conf file as a base ?
