I've already moved on to ktown and Plasma 5! Baloo and the KDE compositor with the Nvidia binary blob doesn't work right for me but otherwise it runs perfectly.

I agree. I use drupal-7, wordpress, dotclear, flyspray, piwigo (with a lot of plugins), phpbb, dokuwiki, nextcloud, pluxml, roundcube, tiny-tiny rss, phpmyadmin, piwik. All of them with php-7.1, everything works perfectly.

Linux 4.14 is out. LTS release. Which makes me wonder if we aren't at that time when Slackware get's polished up and ready to go

For the last 3 releases (14.0, 14.1, and 14.2), he's used the .29, .17, and .14 releases of LTS kernels respectively. So, if this next release follows suit, we still have a bit of time until there's enough patch releases to 4.14 to ensure it's stabilized.

But, I'm ready for a new Slackware version
