Any chance we can get git subtree included in the default git package? Its an arguably far better alternative to submodules.

Here I build fine openssl-1.0.2m-x86_64-1.txz and openssl-solibs-1.0.2m-x86_64-1.txz packages on "clean" slackware64 current

Try to download the sources from ftp.slackware.com. I've been able to successfully build both openssl packages just now.
