Proposing a simple patch to /etc/rc.d/rc.mysqld to avoid terminating other mysql instances. This is particularly true when running akonadi which runs its own mysqld instance on user's account and is affected by 'killall mysqld' upon '/etc/rc.d/rc.mysqld stop'.

Fix chfn

Nothing from changelogs about this; again I guess it is just a minor cosmetic gripe - but yea I would like chfn to have the information all on one line corrected. It just looks cluttered imo.

As I understand it, the old icu4c libs were added to aaa_elflibs to avoid breakage to 3rd-party packages when upgrading to icu4c-67.1. See the ChangeLog entry from 15 May.

libcgroup 0.42.2

Seconding Lockywolf’s request from 2020-01-15 for a newer libcgroup.

With the version presently in -current, cgconfigparser is completely unable to read any /etc/cgconfig.conf file, it systematically errors out with a nonsensical message “Have multiple paths for the same namespace” even with the simplest possible configuration. This looks similar to a problem that has already been reported before, here, here and here. However rebuilding the package with LANG=C, as was found to solve the issue in those threads, didn’t change anything for me.

Rebuilding the package with the latest libcgroup-0.42.2, on the other hand, did solve the issue.

(Incidentally, development of libcgroup has resumed, apparently pushed by Oracle.)

This seems to be an unintentional change from Pat. I can't find any changes in the shadow SlackBuild that would've affected chfn directly. If you're willing to do some sleuthing, it would be nice to track down whether it is something that affects all newer versions of shadow or if it is tied to compiling shadow against PAM. (If someone has a pre-PAM version of -current, they could check and see if chfn works as expected.)

Looking through the history of chfn.c on their github, it looks like there haven't been any drastic changes over the years, so it doesn't seem to be something recent from upstream, which seems to point to it being due to PAM or something else in the system affecting it.

He added these to aaa_elflibs right before he upgraded the icu4c package at the end of May to prevent 3rd-party packages from breaking (IIRC, it would break several things, including ktown and LibreOffice until they were recompiled against the update). I'm not sure how long Pat intends to keep it in there. Here's the changelog entry when he added those to aaa_elflibs:

Code:
Fri May 15 07:28:15 UTC 2020
a/aaa_elflibs-15.0-x86_64-23.txz: Rebuilt.
--snip--
Added temporarily in preparation for upgrading icu4c: libicudata.so.65.1,
  libicui18n.so.65.1, libicuio.so.65.1, libicutest.so.65.1, libicutu.so.65.1,
  libicuuc.so.65.1.

I think there is a consecutive --Current release on Slackwware.uk , not sure. All I know is that ever since the inclusion of PAM this behavior occurred - and like you said it could be shadow - but I don't know enough to actually do any sleuthing - I am not that smart to be honest.
