Pat doesn't have restrictions preventing SlackBuilds from downloading during compilation like SBo does. It might've been something he didn't care about during the time. Or it might've been something he missed.

There are many posts on here everyday and Pat may not be on the forum every day or if he is, he may not see all the posts. Or he may see something and think, "Oh, that's a good idea" and then he forgets to make the change.

Since Slackware doesn't have a formal (and public) bug tracking system, it is impossible to know if bug reports on here are seen unless Pat directly comments about it (either on the forum or via the changelog).

However, did you really believe that Slackware almost managed to skip the entire release cycle of Plasma5 ?

After all, the KDE roadmaps talks about only 4 (four) more minor releases of Plasma5: 5.21, 5.22, 5.23 and 5.24 .

And did you know how many Plasma5 micro releases was skipped already? At least ONE HUNDRED.

I beg our BDFL to take note that we aren't legendary High Elves, with a life span of 1000 years, BUT certainly we are some puny Humans, many do not expecting to survive more than of next 20 years at best.

We can humble ask him "when is ready" to happens BEFORE us going to afterlife, after a well fulfilled lifespan?

Or, maybe this is The Plan? HE waits us to die of old age before Slackware 15 to be released, IF ever will be released?

I took it as a playful jab at our BDFL, so I wasn't offended or resentful at LuckyCyborg. I found it mildly amusing and was about to just move on, but then I was thinking about all the useless posts I see daily.

For example, someone posts a problem after an update/upgrade, then another pops up with "well, it is working fine here!". Now the OP is left wondering what the hell is wrong with their skills? Terabytes of data could be saved if these types of posts could be eliminated. Absolutely no one is helped by the fact you aren't having a problem.

I read the current changelog multiple times a day. Always run:

I have a clean install of current on a separate partition. The only third party software is the NV blob. The main partition now is as old as 14.2. The clean install will be my main partition once current becomes the new stable.

There is always the possibility of missing something in the changelog. "Running fine here" when instead saying "This was removed/added" would be a better answer. But then again, I digress. My original point was to point out that LuckyCyborg's post was amusing.....

The posts saying "it's working for me" isn't meant to tell the person good luck, it's stating that the problem doesn't exist on all situations. This could mean that OP did something to their system or that it is tied to hardware differences (like we were seeing years back with instability in ktown for certain GPU setups).

But sometimes it is as easy as saying, it works on a clean install for OP to go back through and figure out what's different. Maybe it is simply an outdated dependency.
