Renamed Boot Device

I just had to reinstall slackware14.1 64 bit multilib on a "new" sata HD. The only other drive connected to the MB is a dvdrom. Problem is that sometimes upon boot, Slackware stops reading SDA1 and renames it HDA1 therefore the system does not boot.
Any ideas?

Thanks

The hda devices are created by obsolete IDE driver(s), these modules should be disabled in kernel.

Decided to go with UUID. It was the easiest and most straightforward solution.
