Remove floppy disk link from Desktop

Slack 12 + xfce. I want to get rid of the Floppy Disk link/icon on the Desktop and have no idea how... Who uses floppy's now days anyway?

I want to create links on the Desktop to my windows harddrives. Will i make it by Create link /wherehddismounted and set an icon for it or is there another way to do it?

THanks

EDIT: also, i just noticed that i can't select multiple files on the desktop or file manager using the old fashion "hold mouse button 1 pressed and select all the files". I can only do it thru CTRL+click for multiple items. Why is that?
