Recompile Slack

Hey!

How do I recompile Slackware 10.0 with tulip and rtl drivers? They say I have to do that to make my ethernet card working.

Please help me!

tulip and rtl modules are readily available in the default slackware, without having to recompile...

So, first things first: what's your ethernet card? I.e. what's its make and model? And if you could, please type the command "lsmod" and also the command "ifconfig" and post their outputs here.

Wel, my ethernet card is Realtek RTL Family (?) and so on... I can't remember... Can't post output... But i know that the ethernet card isn't loaded. I can not find my ethernet card when I type ismod. Someone told me that I have to recompile the kernel to get this working.

(sorry my bad english...)

what model realtek (it's vital to know this)???

i have a realtek 8139, so to load the module for my card i do a:

modprobe 8139too

modprobe 8139too and tulip did not work... but i can try to open the computer and check there...

Here is all I can find on my ethernet card:

SMC
ENS5030B
04099T1 0150

and

Delta
LF8271 0009

It's "lsmod" not "ismod". Also, I'm assuming you're doing all this as root, right? And can you maybe tell us a little more about your computer (make, model)? Perhaps that way we can establish what card you have exactly and take it from there.

And if you're desperate to compile a kernel, take a look at the kernel compilation guide at the top part of this forum, or have a look at one of the introductory guides in my signature. But before you can compile with support for your card, it'd be nifty to know what card you have right? So let's try to find that out first and see if maybe it'll work with compiling a kernel.
